From 1974 to 1986, DeAngelo prowled primarily in California, adapting several monikers including the Visalia Ransacker, the East Area Rapist, and ultimately coined as the Golden State Killer by investigators. These struggles escalated in high school, and he retreated further and further into his own dark fantasies.
When Rifkin started community college in 1977, his obsession with sex workers began taking over his life. He would skip classes to roam around Manhattan, searching for sex workers to indulge his fantasies of violence. Despite being in and out of his parents' home and struggling with finances, it wasn't until 1989 that Rifkin's chilling fantasies transitioned into reality.
In gruesome detail, this account details Rifkin's first foray into murder and subsequent heinous acts, outlining his disturbing techniques for hiding the identity of his victims. From his first victim, Susie, to his last, Tiffany , every move of his chilling journey is showcased.
The tale then follows Rifkin's arrest in 1993, his shocking confession, and his trial where he was sentenced to 203 years in prison. In this episode, we delve into the life and criminal activities of Katherine Knight, born on October 24th, 1955 in Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia. Knight, who came from a dysfunctional family, was the youngest of twins and witnessed severe domestic abuse as a child. Her volatile upbringing paved the way for her own disturbing path, leading her into several abusive relationships, and eventually turning her into a notorious criminal.
After quitting school at the age of 15, Katherine Knight found employment as a butcher, a job she considered her dream career. Her fascination with slaughter grew, as confirmed by her habit of hanging her butcher knives above the bed wherever she lived. Her relationships with men were erratic, brutal, and at times, lethal. After a string of violent incidents, Knight ended up in a psychiatric hospital and later confessed intentions to murder her estranged husband and his mother.
In 2000, things took a horrific turn when Knight brutally killed her partner, John Price. She stabbed him 37 times, skinned his body, and hung it on a meat hook. In a gruesome turn of events, she was found to have cooked portions of John Price's body, apparently intending to feed them to his children. Arrested and taken into custody, she was charged with murder and subjected to a high-profile trial. In November 2001, she became the first woman in Australia to get a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
